About GFS Logistics

GFS Logistics is a warehousing and logistics company that prides itself on offering a full suite of logistics services, including some services that fall outside of the standard offering of most fulfilment services (such as seasonal “flex” storage, trailer storage, instore retail display pack outs, transloading, and full logistics and transportation management). The company was founded in 1998 and has warehouses in Dallas, Phoenix, and Atlanta, with their Dallas warehouse provides the most warehouse space for customers at 1.6 million square feet worth of storage space.

Customer service for GFS can be reached through email, phone, letter, and through a form on the company’s website. Their customer service is usually quick, and, on email, the president of the company will often take care of questions himself. Of course, this usually means quality customer service, especially in this day and age of chat support and limited phone conversations.

Some key statistics about GFS Logistics:

  • Order and Shipping Accuracy is 99.9%
  • Inventory Accuracy is 99.9%
  • Annual order volume in 2022 of 800,000

GFS Logistics Pricing

GFS has not published its pricing on its website, but they do include an easy-to-use contact request form to receive a quote on the company’s pricing. GFS has a long list of value-added services and customer service that is readily available.

GFS Logistics Facilities

As mentioned above, GFS operates out of three facilities, the headquarters of which is located at 3130 N. Longhorn Drive in Lancaster, Texas. This location is just outside of Dallas, offering a central location and close proximity to a popular US hub (and one of the country’s best locations for 3PL warehouses). In addition to this state-of-the-art facility, GFS Logistics also operates two hubs – one in Atlanta and one in Phoenix. The location of these three warehouses allows its customers to capitalize on strategic locations that offer 2-day ground shipping capability to all of the US.

GFS Logistics Services

Like most fulfillment companies, GFS Logistics offers advanced e-Commerce fulfillment with shopping cart integrations & full-scale fulfillment and shipping services. GFS integrates with all major shopping carts using their robust warehouse management system (WMS) – and setup is relatively straightforward. The company also offers common support services, such as storage solutions and warehouse management, fully equipped with real-time inventory and order monitoring online.

What sets the company apart is that GFS also provides in-store retail display services, kitting and assembly, package tracking services, and flexible trailer storage. For in-store retail display, these services include the design of your final display, display production, pack out, and final retail display assembly. For kitting and assembly, these include product samples, makeup, electronics, subscription boxes, healthcare materials, and multi-level marketing kits.

Furthermore, because GFS Logistics has an in-house freight division, they can save your company money on freight shipments. The company leverages its freight carrier relationships to get the best shipping costs for its clients. Furthermore, GFS Logistics can help with your environmental initiatives through its GFS Logistics ESG Freight Management service – which optimizes delivery routes and utilizes more environmentally friendly delivery options.

GFS Logistics makes it known on the company’s website that it employs a freight management system that incorporates guidelines and recommendations that focus on improving the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) functions of its business. GFS, if it receives an ESG score, would be audited at certain times depending on what organization is performing the audit, and that score tells “activist investors” whether or not the business is compliant and active in pursuing values that are in agreement with these “activist investors.” Some of the values that ESG promotes are fewer emissions, green energy, and racial diversity among those employed by the company. ESG scores are not transparent and are not easily viewed.

Finally, GFS Logistics helps with an assortment of commodity types. Not only does the company help businesses that sell common goods that do not require any special warehouse conditions, but the company also helps with food grade products (and is FDA approved), very challenging apparel warehousing products including garments on hangar, high value goods, medical devices, supplements, and even pharmaceutical products.

What Software Does GFS Logistics Use?

GFS Logsitics uses a broad spectrum of robust technologies in order to delivery near flawless fulfillment services to its clients. The company utilizes bar code scanning technologies throughout the warehouse in order to limit human error. GFS also uses Camelot 3PL software, a high-end 3PL software, which is a warehouse management software designed specifically for 3PLs. GFS’s shopping integration is extremely exhaustive, offering integration with any cart and with very little friction, aided by custom programming to meet any need or demand.

Pros of Using GFS Logistics

The pros of using GFS Logistics are that the company is smaller than a company like DHL or FedEx, but it is more than a one-warehouse operation. It has more reach, but the quality of service likely has not diminished when GFS deals with clients. Some people like to choose the businesses they deal with based on the values that the business holds. GFS makes this decision easier by putting its values up front on the company’s website.

GFS has multiple locations in various areas of the US, making split location of inventory and decreased freight costs and transit times a possibility for larger organizations. These locations are very strategically dispersed throughout the US, making 2-day ground delivery possible.

Finally, GFS Fulfillment offers a very diverse set of services – more than most 3PL companies. If your company needs a wider variety of services, GFS is a solid option for your company.

Cons of Using GFS Logistics

It is not always a good sign when a company advertises itself to be beholden to investors
whose agenda is not to see the business be profitable, but instead to support specific values
within the cultural and social sphere. The focus on these specific values could affect profitability
and quality of service in some areas, so businesses should be aware of this when considering
using GFS for their services.

GFS Fulfillment Reviews

GFS has 19 reviews on Google with a 4.0 out of 5-star rating. Most of the ratings are positive, but most of them are from quite some time ago and were not written by those using GFS Logistics services but were written by people picking up or dropping off shipments.

Of the negative reviews, this one from a year ago gave GFS one star and says, “Horrible experience from the day I walked in to fill out an application.” This review was apparently from a job applicant.

There are quite a few five-star reviews, but none of them explicitly mention GFS’ service quality, and most of them did not have any words at all. While a 4 Star review is very positive, for a company with three warehouse locations and at least five years in business, it would be great to see a few more reviews to support the conclusion.

I highly recommend W&F, particularly to anyone whose business relies on a strong fulfillment partner.

I reached out to to facilitate my search for a reputable, service oriented 3PL that can handle the demands of a highly seasonal business to pick, pack and ship parts quickly. I received several qualified 3PL leads that matched what we were looking for. After reviewing and speaking with many one stood out from the rest, and we found a great partner. We could not recommend enough.
